The Cold war was between 1947 and 1991. The game is mostly like be based between the 1970s and 1980s since you are able to fly an Apache in the game and remote detonated C4 wasn't developed until 1975. RC cars have been around since the mid 60's. So I don't see how its not possible...

also part of the game is in Vietnam,if you haven't noticed by the Asian midget in the watery tunnel in one of the trailers.so yea,1970's to 1980's.
