How do i use those symbols and/or hack my clan tag on FTB1?

I'm trying to hack my clan tag on ftb1, but idk how to even put in those symbols.
This guy told me how and i tried, i copied the ABABAB search, pasted it into the browser, deleted the ABABAB in the chat, then went over to where all the dots were under ASCII and went to A, then went back to the chat and pressed enter, but all that came up was the A that i had put in under the ASCii where all the dots were.
Do i need a code to do the symbols?
