Need Help With 5.50 Gen-C or D

Okayy i have gen-b and now i need gen-c then gen-d and last d2 to play jak and daxter,but i read this thing that ses you can skip c and go straight to d then d2, but when i download the link the john gives you, i do what the directions say but theirs an extra file thats called "550.PBP" what am i sopposed to do?
-also when i start the update the screen stays blank, not frozen just blank.
Any help? please and thank you?

The 550.PBP file is necessary for the updating process. What you do with it is that you put it at the root of you memory stick (Where all your main folders are. i.e. PSP, MUSIC, PICTURES, etc.) If you do that, you be able to update it.
