That is true.. The only problem i heard with 5.50 GEN-D2 not being able to play was Tekken 6 because it required 6.10 OFW but that has also been fixed so you can play it as well..
Maybe other people are having problems with it because they are doing something wrong like plugin incompatibility issues, something changed within the recovery menu, files they got were corrupted, and some of them are still using 5.00M33-6..
So yeah, it can be a multitude of things.. But the bottom line is, 5.50 GEN-D2 can play most games including new releases.
