Easy 4.2 homebrew channel/cios/dvd backup loader guide

Installing Homebrew Channel
1. Download the package at the bottom of this guide.

2. Copy all of these files over to your SD card.

3. Click the SD card tab on the main menu screen.

4. A message will then pop up, click yes.

5. The "Hackmii Installer 0.5" will launch, and from there, you can install the HBC.


Installing the CIOS

Download the new package, copy over all files to the SD card.
When you are on the wii, go to the homebrew channel then:

1. Run Trucha Bug Restorer

2. Press B to choose No IOS Reload.
Wait till it says Press 1 then press it.
Go to Downgrade IOS15.
Press A to downgrade.
Everytime it says “Download from NUS” change it to “load IOS from SD”

3. Run Trucha Bug Restorer
Choose IOS15 & press A. (Important)
Wait till it says Press 1 then press it.
Choose IOS36 menu. In there use these settings:

Install IOS to slot (36)
Hash check (trucha) YES
ES_Identity YES
NAND Permissions YES


Then press A on install patched IOS36.

4.Run Trucha Bug Restorer
Choose IOS36 & press A.
Wait till it says Press 1 then press it.
Then Choose restore IOS15.
Press A to restore.


Exit the application by pressing the home button.

Next, you must delete the unneeded stub IOS's (important step):

Run Any Title Deleter DB from the homebrew channel.
Choose IOS36 & press A.
Go to System Titles & press A.
Select IOS222 & press A to delete.
Select IOS223 & press A to delete.
Select IOS249 & press A to delete.
Select IOS250 & press A to delete.

Return the the Homebrew channel, and then run the CIOS38Rev14b Installer.
Choose IOS36 as the IOS to use, and then follow on screen instructions to install it.




One of the apps provided is "Softchip", my favourite backup loader. This version of softchip is compiled to use the CIOS provided as default. (IOS 249 slot default, and 002 fix forced).
I have also provided softchip as a .wad file, and this can be installed by using the wad manager application, as the softchip channel.

1. Run "Softchip" through the homebrew channel, or install the .wad provided, and the backup will load.

You can also use Neogamma backup loader, or can use a different version of softchip if the provided version doesn't work, just Google it.

Wait a sec... Is this pretty much like the Magic Memorystick but for Wii? I was gonna hack someone's Wii for them, but I'm not sure how to, so if this allows you to put games up on it, I am so there.

yup just follow the guide and after you can burn wii iso's to dvd-r's and play. pretty simple.

how's your hacked wii treating you?

I got like 20+ games for mine. USB Loader GX FTW! :D

That's what that everyone looks for a while in tech actually I'm also the one of those so nice to have this thread If someone is wondering for this.
