Does anyone here actually think AMD is good?
Sure it's cheaper but do you know how severely gimped their chips are?
Just go with their 970 Black edition, about 160 ( minus rebate, just a quad core)
And let's compare with an intel chip, core i7 at stock clock 3.4GHz

I really dont even see saving money as an arguement, just save it and go with quality
Re: Does anyone here actually think AMD is good?
I use Intel. AMD sucks nuts And My Dick.
Re: Does anyone here actually think AMD is good?
Same i use intel trust me amd is shit :/
Re: Does anyone here actually think AMD is good?
AMD is OK. I've only used AMD computers (I think HP made them? idk) in school, so all I really know is they can run inventor and chief architect pretty damn well. Other then that I think intel processors are the way to go, plus the i7 is kick ass and pretty damn cheap.

Something a little interesting

One of their top 6 core cpu's against a quad i7

Are you SURE the integer one is right? That seems almost too low.

Those are point for point based on the information collected from people running the test
Re: Does anyone here actually think AMD is good?
If you have to debate on whether AMD or Intel is better, follow it on these rules:
AMD is for performance
Intel is for quality
If you plan to play games, go with Intel. If you plan to do anything else, go with AMD. I use AMD and have no problems. Just don't settle on a shitty one like Athlon or Turion. Always go with Phenom.
And the main difference between the i7 and 955 or any quad core is that the i7 has 8 threads where as the 955 or i5 has only 4.

Well actually AMD is basically for cheap people, performance wise they are trash, those screenshots prove that. Hard to say they are for performance when their hex cores are having a hard time beating a quad core

Use amd for floating point stuff. Maybe that's why inventor and chief architect run so damn well on there (2 ghz something). They're slower on my 2.4 ghz mbp in boot camp
