PSP-4000 in 2009 and PSP2 later?

Not much in the way of PSP news. But here’s something for the old rumor mill thanks to Eurogamer.

Sony plans to refresh the PlayStation Portable product line with a PSP-4000 model in late 2009 and launch a true successor - a PSP2, if you like - later.

Publishing sources, speaking to Eurogamer, were unable to provide any further detail on next year’s update, which will presumably follow this year’s PSP-3000 in taking an iterative approach. The PSP-3000 launched this October and followed a 2000-series model, the first Slim & Lite, in September 2007.
Even fewer details were available on the PSP successor, but we’re told that developers are already working on games.
Sony has not ruled out either scenario, despite SCEE president David Reeves’ assertion in MCV last week that “there are currently no plans for a PSP2″. “I go to Tokyo quite a lot and no one has referred to it - I think they have their hands full at the moment,” he said, non-committally.
Sony UK told Eurogamer today that it would not comment on rumour and speculation.

Wow it looks weird

i think i would like the bottom one more. a touch screen is not very good for really good gaming, unless the touch screen is sensitive enough. plus, touch screens are just wait too touchy. touch screens will never replace good ole analog sticks and buttons.

What im looking for is a Hi-Def PSP. i think that would be more possible with the bottom one, because touch screens are just meh.

HOLY SHIT. i just realized after what wisdom said that the pictures are of the same psp. omg. that is ridiculous. if the truely do slide out like that... incredible. it would be amazing.

i know i saw it a long time ago. Its a fake drawing....impossible...nothing imossible.

I hope dey could make PSP2 games into ISOs and CSO dat works with PSP1 so dat i dont have to go and buy a new PSP with newer games

Well lets say this was "real", wouldn't the Analog Sticks be on the bottom? Other than that, they look like they would brake easily.

It's not the right way, it should be the only way. I wonder how one would use it if they were on the top anyways.

You have to remember this is only a rumor. Plus it would take at least a month or two to get it to even go into service mode.

There is no way that the PSP would ever look like those pictures. It looks straight up retarded. Especially the screen. Look at it. Thats stupid in my opinion. Also the Analog Sticks on top of the D-Pad and Buttons....STRAIGHT UP DUMB!

It's fake....this pictures had been goin around lots of times too...go to pspvault.com and ull see another psp2 picture...they're all rumors and fakes...Sony is losin money with the PSP and i dont think that they are gunna continue it at all...so prolly by next year they will discontinue PSP because not much people likes it because it can easily be hacked...*wink wink*...and that with the new PS3 and its graphics, people would want a good graphic game console...so i dont know about this one...and if u dont believe me about Sony losin money on PSP then go to Sony Forums or somethin....ull see

I don't think so. I think they will make atleast one more cuz I think the PSP-3000 is a failure. I heard that there are Hardware problems with most of the ones that were first released. Plus the screen "isn't glare resistant" like it was suppose to be. Really there isn't much of a difference with it beside the brighter screen and the built in mic.

Yea i think its fake, 3000 wasnt that really great at all, all it has was built in mic and light screen
