What would you do if nuclear bombs went off in the Major Cities of the U.S
What would you do? What if a group of people on the inside of the government or not, maybe just terrorists blew H-Bombs in most of the major cities?
By the major cities I'm reffering to Boston, San Diego, Chicago, New York, St. Louis, Cincinatti, Philadelphia, Washington D.C, Atlanta, Seattle most of the big cities. I say San Diego and not Las Vegas or San Fransisco because if a nuclear bomb hit San Diego I doub't anyone from San Fransisco nor Las Vesas would survive, its too close.
First of all, just so you know.. The power would be out soon because your power comes from a main city most of the time thats where it is controlled. The internet probably wouldn't work long after the bombs went off, the phone lines would also be down. Your completely cut off from the world no contact outside exept maybe HAM Radio.
Nuclear Effects Generator
To give you an idea of what would happen visit THIS site. Select a city in the application, drag the gray box to make the Weapon Yield 25 KT and keep delivery method on automobile. Thats how much damage it would do. Red circle would be the part of the city that would be completely gone, blue would be the kill radius and orange would be the shock wave / blast wave distance. That is just the explosion. Then you have fallout that would drop down quickly after and would make much greater distances and literally cook anything that got too irradiated from the inside out.
Also play around with the tool a little bit, if a 2 megaton bomb hit the entire city would be gone.

i think id be fucked cause i live near pittsburgh,and i think pittsburgh is a major city because it puts out more pollutant then some small nations lol

Pittsburgh isn't included. Its as of 2008 I think #59 on the biggest city population density in the U.S. Its more than 100 miles from any of the others but it has several surrounding it including Cincinattin, Washington D.C, and Philadelphia but it would stand most likely. It would take long for debris to get there, at about 100 miles it takes 4 - 6 hours for nuclear debris and particles to reach there. But you would still need to take shelter, tape up your windows with duct tape and plastic + be in a basement or fallout shelter until the debris stopped falling.

Far away is?
Even far away meaning past 200 miles it is still dangerous, fallout can reach great distances it would just take longer. It would effect you a lot more than you think. You wouldn't be getting food from anywhere but the city you live in, once thats gone its GONE and every single city would be like that. The sick wouldn't be getting medical care and if they were it would be limited to your hospitals resources and they would be running off of a generator most of the time. Water pumps would not work. Including your sink, bath tub, fire hydrants. Gas Pumps would not work you are using the gas you have and the gas people share with you to manage. You would have to worry about kids, food, water, shelter, school, information, and keeping everyone sane.

Lol. Yeah but it might effect you. Denver might be the closest to your area so it wouldn't have much effect on you might get its a bits of fallout which could be dangerous because of the radiation.

If you live in new york the closest city to you that got bombed would be either philedalphia or new york. Either way depending where you live you would have radiated debris heading towards you within 4 hours and high gusts of winds, New York would ALL be in panic running around the streets driving and I doub't you could take out all middle eastern's with your little pistol.

Sand Diago and Cincinati aren't major cities..You left out Detroit, Dallas, LA, Pheonix, San Antonio.. ;-)
It may be a good thing if it hit detroit. It would clear up the streets, and let us start new.

San Diego's bomb would handle all of San Fransisco and of course San Diego and everything in between. Pretty much a kill radius of a mile. Heat blast would travel at over 2000MPH but would slow rapidly. Detroit isn't a major asset, although if it hit lansing it would take out Muskegon, Lansing and most of detroit.

Detroit is the 10th largest populated city in the United States.

It has nothing major to the United States though, other than its population it wouldn't be as much of a deal except for water, food and other things in michigan.
I'm talking about meaningful things for invasion and or creating an environment to keep U.S isolated.
San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia and New Orleans are all major port cities if they were bombed we are probably not leaving the U.S and planes wouldn't be operational. San Diego also has major military importance ( a major naval base is located there. ) There is a head quarters near Denver and a naval base in Philadelphia.
Most if not all of the government would have been taken out in D.C there might be some people left but if the bomber's has any wits they would do it during a critical time like during a presedential meeting or something where everyone is located there. Along with an FBI headquarters close by in Langley, Virginia, D.C would be wrecked.
Population plays a role but a lot of those cities have main essential things, Detroit does too but as what I'm aware of it doesn't have a major federal court, nor a major FBI office or anything of importance except to the people of Michigan. I don't know much about Detroit even though I live in michigan so correct me if I'm wrong. But if you'd like I will add Detroit to the list of bombed cities.
If someone was to bomb a country it might be to take out a lot of people but why just take out people with the bombing itself? The after effects can take out double, triple and even more. No one will have food, people will get radiation poisoning. People in refugee camp's will starve, no food to go around. People will be killing others to survive, things that wouldn't happen in the ordeal situation.
I would be going on to medical care but I have to go to school tomorrow.

USA wouldn't be close to nearly gone from 1 nuke. I'm talking about 25 Kiloton bombs, these are big bombs but there are bombs WAY bigger. These bombs will cause some devastation. Now one very well set 10 - 15 Megaton bomb would really cause havoc across the whole country.

Still would probably stand. If you saw the mushroom cloud and took cover quick enough it would take about 15 - 30 minutes for fall out to get there. A blast wave might come close. Check the first post and look at the calculator for the blast it will show you somewhat.

You wouldn't know it was happening, and if you aren't super close to any major cities you have a good chance of survival if you know a couple things or people in your city know a couple things.

Yeah I know. The point is the whole country would be in distress. Any city more than 100 miles away from the blast would all be alike. They would survive and they would all be disconnected from the rest of the world. I'm asking mainly what you would do to survive.
Cause it would suck without internet, electricity, running water, low food.

Air Craft would probably take you out, It is a lot more devastating in the air, but there is hardly any fallout except in the blast radius because it doesn't have any earth to throw up into the air. Only thing that would come down are pieces of the bomb.
You would be fine then and you would be like the other cities.

Even 75 miles should be fine. The fallout would be able to reach you guys in about 4 hours but all that need be done for that is to take shelter in sealed areas, fall out shelters, anywhere thats taped off and secure from the rest of the world.
