Call of Duty: Black Ops
Being released on November 9, 2010, CoD:BO has been giving nerdgasms all over the internet. Die-hard CoD fan will rejoice, and new comers will fall in love. In this thread, we will dicuss all the new features, explain everything from the bottom up and try to keep you updated.
All New Features
Customization
With this new feature, you can put clan tags and custom made emblems onto your gun. You can also put face paints, change your outfits, the camoes for guns return and much more!
COD Points
COD Points are the new currency system. Instead of getting a gun right away when you hit a certain level and unlocking its attachments and camoes from leveling up, you buy them. That doesn't mean that you'll be able to buy an AK47 at the beginning of the game when you make enough points. The guns are locked by default and will be unlocked when you reach a certain level.
Theater Mode
Much like Halo's thearter mode, you can record your match to use as a reference, to look back at great games, and to upload online. There is a First Person following feature, a Third Person, and Free Cam feature.
Combat Training Mode
CTM allows people to "Practice" for multiplayer mode. Much like how old games like 007 Agent Under Fire and other games had an AI option in the multiplayer, it has been put into here. Players can try out and perfect the use of a certain gun, can get ready for online matches, or just screw around with the AI.
Contracts
Contracts work like challanges, but instead of rewarding you with only Experience, you are rewarded with CoD Points. There is a catch, however. You must put some of your own CoD Points down, and then you must complete the contract within an alotted time limit, or you will lose the money you put down.
Wager Mode
"Put your money where you're mouth is." is a statement that scares the unsure and encourages the cocky. This will make all those shit talkers and "1v1 me" fags rage even further when they lose. Wager matches are a gambling game mode where you put up your COD Points and the winner gets the loot while the loser drowns in tears. The game modes go as followed:
One in the Chamber
This game type is a true test of precision and accuracy. You get one pistol with one bullet and three lives. Kill an enemy, get another bullet. Miss, and you must resort to melee only weapons.
Sticks and Stones
In this game mode, you resort to primative weapons. Crossbows, Tomahawks, Ballistic Knives, and Combat Knives are your only weapons. "What's the catch?" you ask? Tomahawks are inaccurate, they don't go straight like throwing knives do, so they will be given a sort of catch: You lose ALL of you COD Points if you get hit with one.
Gun Game
Pretty much like the food chain of guns. You start off with a pistol and once you kill someone, your weapon is switched to a more powerful gun. However, if you get knifed, you go back a tier. The tiers go as so: Pistols > Shotguns > Submachineguns > Assault Rifles > LMGs > Explosives
Sharp Shooter
Sharp Shooter is a game mode where everyone has the same exact gun for a set time. When the set time is up, the weapon will be switched for a new one and match will go on.
Diving
No, not swimming, diving behind cover. With the new diving feature, you'll be able to diving away or towards your enemy.
Weapons
What is CoD without guns? Not CoD. There hasn't been much on the guns, but we have seen a few returns.

Launchers
Attachments (Assault Rifles)
- Extended Mags
- Red Dot Sight
- ACOG Sight
- Reflex Sight
- Masterkey (Attached Shotgun)
- Grenade Launcher
- Flamethrower
- Suppressor
Equipment
The equipment and grenades have been split into three categories: Lethal, Technical, Equipment.
Lethal
Usually composed of anything that will kill. Plain and simple.
- Frag Grenades
- Semtex (Sticky Grenades)
- Tomahawk (Throwing Ax)
Tactical
Non-Lethal Equipment that is used for distractions or to make a kill easier.
- Stun Grenades
- Flash Grenades
- Smoke Grenades
- Nova Gas
Equipment
Equipment is... Well, others.
- C4
- Stick Camera (Allows you to place a camera that takes place of your map)
- Motion Sensor (Shows any movement on the map that is other than your own)
- Claymore
- Tactical Insertion
Perks
There are new perks and the return of old ones in CoD:BO
Perk 1
- Lightweight (Allows the player to run faster than normal)
- Scavenger (Dead enemies and allies drop "Scavanger Packs", which refill ammo, equipment, etc.)
- Ghost (Invisible to Spybirds and Blackbirds)
- Flak Jacket (Reduces Explosive Damage to the player)
- Hardline (Takes one less kill for killstreaks)
Perk 2
- Hardened (Unsure, but might work like Juggernaugt which gave extra health, or it might allow the player to take more damage.)
- Scout (Unconfirmed)
- Steady Aim (Allows the player's hip fire shot to be more accurate.)
- Sleight of Hand (Reload time is reduced)
- Warlord (Possibly One Man Army or Overkill)
Perk 3
- Marathon (Allow the player to run for longer distantces of time, but not indefinitely like in MW2)
- Ninja (Undetectable to motion sensors)
- Second Chance (Allows the user to fight back after being brought down and get back up [Works like Final Stand, but once you're knocked down again, you die])
- Hacker (Allows you to take over enemy's equipment)
- Tactical Mask (Unconfirmed)
Killstreaks
What better way to celebrate 10 kills in a row than a killstreak? With CoD:BO, there some new killstreaks available.
- 3 killstreak: Spy plane & RC-XD
- 4 killstreak: Counter-spy Plane & Sam Turret
- 5 killstreak: Care Package & Napalm Strike
- 6 Killstreak: Sentry Gun & Mortar Team
- 7 killstreak: Attack Helicopter & Valkyrie Rockets
- 8 killstreak: Blackbird & Rolling Thunder
- 9 killstreak: Chopper Gunner
- 11 killstreak: Gunship & Attack Dogs
Note: Getting a kill with a killstreak does not add towards your killstreak count. The nuke has also been removed.
Also,if you noticed killstreaks 3-8 all have 2 different options to choose from,9 has one and 11 has 2

Hacker is used to over take Cameras, Sentries, etc. Hacker Pro supposedly lets you over take claymores, C4, etc.

@Jordan that's awesome.i probably won't use it but it'll defiantly be useful
@CoDeX shotguns should be primary.Having a kick ass long to medium range weapon and an epic close range is too over powered.

Very nice overview! I wasn't too sure about Black Ops (mostly because of Treyarch). But after looking at this and seeing some of the new features, I think I'm going to buy it. When does it come out again?

Im going to see if i can save up 60 before then.I want a new phone,4 games and live for christmas.Thats almost 500,im not that lucky lol.

Yea, I have to save up for this game, Fallout New Vegas, Kirby's Epic Yarn and Metroid Prime Other M. Too much. I usually don't like Treyarch games, especially after World at War. But this one looks different. I think they did a better job with this one.

I enjoyed world at war,it wasn't ridiculously one sided like mw2,everything was balanced.

Yea, a lot of people did like it. I just wasn't too thrilled about the campaign because it didn't go very in depth like MW1 & 2. Like in the Modern Warfare series, I even learned most of the characters names. In World at War, I don't even know who I played as. I also didn't like how the multiplayer was set up. I did however love nazi zombies, that is one thing I think they did right. That aside, just looking at what they have done with Black Ops, I think they have learned a lot and will produce the game with a wow factor.

Alright, so I went to my friend Nick's house and he had CoD:BO on his J-tag. They've added a LOT of shit. Its better than MW2, but I'm not going to exaggerate and say its the best thing ever. They kept the Grenade Launcher attachment for Assault Rifles, but there's no danger close so you don't have to worry about them being over powered. There is no OMA, and Scavenger no longer replenishes noobtubes.
Also, best combo: Slight of Hand, Marathon, Lightweight.

Crossbow is hard as fuck to hit. You pretty much have to shoot a second ahead of them to hit them. And the flamethrower is overpowered as fuck.
