Therefore if they didn't have religion they would have atheism, which would end up having a lot more people and it would split up into a bunch of different groups.
My main thing is that religions are all different. However, I'm 99% sure none of them promote violence(All of the so-called "moral" relgions, ie hinduism, christianity(all forms), islam, buddhism, etc).
I think religion as the first means of forming a civilization, could determine the advancement of a race. Long ago people had hundreds of gods and people were relatively happy, then people fought over which God or gods were superior. These conflicts shaped people tolerances and ideas thus effecting the route these people take as an advancement. Lets use the Dark Ages as an example the scientific advancement was at a stand still because the Vatican considered science to be a perversion from God. My own theory is that without the advancements of science people were kept subservient on the church for guidance. Religion is a basic double edged sword, providing law and order yet stopping natural advancement at the same time. Of course reckless advancement without stability wouldn't be so favored either.
Saying religion is bad is like saying guns are bad because one person killed someone else.
Like I keep saying, religions are not all the same and don't blame anybody else BUT people for the bad things that happen "because of religion".
I'm not a Christian,
I'm a Muslim.
