When you get hung you normally die instantly it isn't the movie choking thing. When you drop down unless its unsucessful your neck is supposed to snap.

yup,the force of the nouse+the weight of the human body will cause the nouse to come up,pushing into your neck,breaking it instanly,causing little shards of glass and bone to go into your juggular and you get rabbies and die
