Dude, I dont care what you read, the MAIN REASON this country was founded was to escape religious persectution, yes, taxation without representation was a part of it, but not as much a part as religious freedom. look it up.

People were being tortured, and having their family members raped over religious beliefs. it was one of the main contributing factors to the formation of this country.

And now racial profiling and religious profiling are amoung the worst problems in this country, slightly ironic when you think about it. Answer this question, if you got on an airplane, and three men walked on and sat in front of you, wearing clothes that would be categorized as "islamic" and they had beards, and headcoverings, would you feel worried?

The country itself was not founded to escape religious persecution. Most of the northern colonies, which later became the US, were founded to escape religious persecution.

Now? It's been there for a long time. Here is some irony for. The pilgrims aka Puritans who came here to escape religious persecution. They banned Quakerism from the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The European countries and private companies therein funded most of the emigration from Europe to the 'New World' for the same reason that they traveled to and colonised every other place they found by hopping in ships and wandering the high seas. Money. By way of trading for and stealing natural resources from indigenous peoples. But the reason that the colonists here were willing to found a new country and go to war in its defense was because the British government and companies wanted the colonists to send the lions share of the fruits of thier labors back to the 'Mother Land', and taxation without representation was a microcosm of what was going on overall. The established wealthy were making the working class pioneers thier bitch, so those working class grew a pair and fought back. Its a shame that we dont share that quality with our forefathers.
