how is it the graphics card if it scratches the disk?
Scratching the disc and RRoD are completely different things.. Scratching the discs comes because people put their 360's upright on the side and it will accidentally fall and the disk gets a thick ring like scratch around the disc. The RRoD is caused something from the Graphix card over heating and some little tiny pin that breaks or something is what I read.

it could be like 60 different things, fans, heatsinks overheating, no enough air getting to the system or even the graphics card melting.
It could be like 1 thing. The X Clamps push down on the graphics card and with enough heat bend it, causing RRoD 3.
