Just got a new Compaq Presario CQ62-417NR as a birthday/going away gift. Thing is pretty cool, came loaded with Windows 7. Don't know much about computer specs so maybe one of you computer guys could tell me if its any good. Got the spec list right here.

That my friend would depend on what you're trying to do with it. It will get the job done an then some. I would upgrade your ram to at least one more GB, 2 gb is not enough because you're really only getting 1gb+.Originally Posted by GilgameshVIII

haha My parents both have a compaq and their pc's shut down within months. I have a hp and it's running just fine probaly had it a year..... all 3 have windows 7.
btw windows 7 is nice just be warned that not all psp software to help you hack works. Hell I had a HARD ass time to find the files to get it so my psp can get a MMS. They wouldn't copy LOL and I agree get some ram. I always beleive I can deal with more ram LOL. if you don't have enough ram you can't really play any games. My pc can play them which I think has just about same specs as yours and it plays games but they lag a TON and more than likely wont work... Oh and processor lol gotta have a good one to

Turn off UAC and everything works just fine
good prosesser(to my standards at least) i have a 2.3 dual in my laptop and 4GB RAM. Here is mine and i got it for $500.

The RAM is expandable up to 8gb, which is pretty good. If you would, it best to upgrade to that to make up for the okay-ish processor. Don't plan to game on it. Upgrading it to 8gb should cost you no more than $50. Here's one for cheap:
